The sixth EasyMax fits perfectly into the construction process at the Niestern Sander shipyard, as delivery of the fourth EasyMax is imminent and construction of the fifth Easymax is currently at full swing.
The EasyMax concept is an ice-strengthened 14,000-tonne deadweight vessel with unrivalled fuel efficiency results. She has the lowest CO2 footprint per tonne/cargo, placing her at the top of the global Energy Efficiency Design Index. For this ship design, Wagenborg received the KVNR Maritime Shipping Award in 2017, partly because of this superior fuel efficiency.
Theo Klimp, fleet director for Wagenborg: "The Easymax vessels ‘Egbert Wagenborg’, ‘Máxima’ and ‘Amalia’ have proven themselves as sustainable and successful vessels and, together with her future sisters, will continue to contribute to Wagenborg Shipping's position as a leading shipping company."
Developed jointly by Wagenborg and Niestern Sander, the EasyMax is typical of the innovative power of the Northern Netherlands maritime sector. The province of Groningen is the ‘Silicon Valley’ of specialised European shipbuilding. This high-quality maritime ecosystem consists of shipbuilders and subcontractors. Together, they deliver many innovative and state-of-the-art vessels, such as the EasyMax series.
