Milestone moment: INEOS tours Europe’s first CO₂ carrier under construction in the Netherlands

Today, INEOS – the lead partner in Project Greensand – is visiting Royal Wagenborg in the Netherlands to see the Easymax CO₂ carrier currently under construction.

The vessel is an essential part of the Greensand CCS value chain, enabling safe and permanent offshore CO₂ storage in the Danish North Sea. The construction at the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard is progressing according to plan, and once complete, the ship be the first dedicated European built CO2 carrier.

The progress of the dedicated CO2 carrier reflects the strong momentum and during the visit, Mads Gade (INEOS Energy) met with Edwin de Vries (Royal Wagenborg) to see the progress firsthand and discuss the next phase of collaboration.

Wagenborg is proud to support the ambitions of INEOS and Greensand continues as it moves from vision to reality – and today’s visit marks another important step toward EU's first full-scale offshore CO₂ storage facility.
