Our history

1898

Founding father Egbert Wagenborg settled ashore and started a small, but successful concern in the area of shipping, towage and passenger services.

1953

With a large fleet of coasters and difficulty to find inspiration for new ship names, Wagenborg decides to name the ships after rivers with the extension "borg" added on.

1988

A change of management takes place as the fourth generation Wagenborg are appointed directors of Wagenborg.

With the establishment of an office in Malmö and Montréal, Wagenborg is globally expanding.

The walk to work vessel ‘Kroonborg’ was awarded Ship of the Year.

Wagenborg completed the first charter: a cargo of roof tiles.

Wagenborg introduced box-shaped holds to respond to the entry of the timber package trade.

In the anniversary year, Wagenborg was awarded the designation “Royal”.

Wagenborg completes an important period of 15 years of shipbuilding at several shipyards resulting in over 100 vessels between 8.000 and 21.000 DWT with the highest Finnish Ice Class.

Wagenborg won the Maritime Shipping Award with her vessel type EasyMax, a leader in terms of sustainability with a load capacity of 14,300 DWT and a very low fuel consumption.

11 October 2024 Transport of bow section marks milestone in construction EasyMax 5

Earlier this week, the bow section of yard number 854 has been transported safely to the quayside at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander. This transport was performed by the heavy transport experts of Wagenborg Nedlift by using Self Propelled Modular Trailers (SPMTs) and marked another milestone in the construction of EasyMax 5 for Wagenborg.

04 October 2024 Fleet renewal continues with announcement of 6th EasyMax

Wagenborg Shipping and shipyard Royal Niestern Sander have reached agreement to start the construction of another 14,000 DWT EasyMax vessel. This sixth vessel in the EasyMax series is expected to be delivered in the summer of 2026.
