Transport of bow section marks milestone in construction EasyMax 5

Earlier this week, the bow section of yard number 854 has been transported safely to the quayside at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander. This transport was performed by the heavy transport experts of Wagenborg Nedlift by using Self Propelled Modular Trailers (SPMTs) and marked another milestone in the construction of EasyMax 5 for Wagenborg.

Before transporting the fore ship, the shipbuilding experts at Niestern Sander and their subcontractors installed as many systems, pipes, and machinery as possible within the construction halls at the shipyard. Additionally, the front section of the new EasyMax vessel was fully preserved and painted in the recognizable Wagenborg colors.

Developed jointly by Wagenborg and Niestern Sander, the EasyMax is typical of the innovative power of the Northern Netherlands maritime sector. The province of Groningen is the ‘Silicon Valley’ of specialised European shipbuilding. This high-quality maritime ecosystem consists of shipbuilders and subcontractors. Together, they deliver many innovative and state-of-the-art vessels, such as the EasyMax series.

The EasyMax is an award-winning 14.500 ton ice-class 1A vessel type and marks the future of the Wagenborg fleet. She has the highest worldwide ranking on the Energy Efficiency Design Index resulting in excellent fuel efficiency and hence CO2 performance. By adding this type of fuel efficient vessels to the fleet, Wagenborg continues to make her business more sustainable every day. Recently, a sixth EasyMax vessel was ordered by Wagenborg set for delivery by the summer of 2026.
